GLP-1 Injection Information
Put simply, medications like GLP-1, marketed as Wegovy or Ozempic, helps to enhance insulin sensitivity. This leads to the burning of calories and fat, along with an improvement in energy levels. GLP-1 is a peptide that functions by mimicking the actions of a hormone known as glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1), which targets a part of the brain responsible for regulating hunger and food consumption. GLP-1 dosing will begin with 1mg/mL dosing as administered below.
Month 1: Weeks 1-4 injections will be 0.25 mL once weekly
Month 2: Weeks 5-8 injections will be 0.50 mL once weekly
Month 3: Weeks 9-12 injections will be 1.0 mL once weekly
If normal BMI is not acheived after week 12 the dosing will titrate up to 2.4mg/mL.
Month 4: Weeks 13-16 injections will be 0.70 mL once weekly
Month 5: Weeks 17 onward injections will be 0.50 mL once weekly
If normal BMI is not acheived after 17 or more weeks a final maintenance dose will be given of 2.4mg/mL monthly.
